Initially thought to be a variation on horror series,
The X-Files has
become a cult series with thousands, if not millions, of fans (or X-philes).
Its dealing with all of the fantastic in an all-sides-win kind of plot
(the two main characters - Mulder, the I-beleive-it-all devotee, and
Scully, the skeptical logical-explanation character - complement each
other), makes it a definite winner.
Each episode deals with one new aspect of extraterrestrials or the paranormal, with one repeating offender: UFOs. Extraterrestrial life and inteligence are frequently approached on these series, both because of the plot - Mulder's sister was abducted by aliens when he was young - and because of the existing evidence (in real life) of alien life and a parallel US military coverup (or at least, denial) in progress, are overwhelming. Fiction apart, these two issues are becoming of the few misteries that not only should, but must be looked into by mankind in greater detail. Extraterrestrial Life & IntelligenceUFOs and the sort have always been very well documented with written and pictorial documents that help to track down frauds and (hopefuly) find the truth on the matter. But until recently, UFO sighting and abduction were subjects attributed to paranoid and illusion-prone people: after all there could not be such things as UFOs. Or could there?...The recent confirmation by NASA that it has found a primitive life-form on a meteor from Mars, came to both decrease the suspicions that NASA is hiding UFO evidence, and give a breath of fresh air to UFO believers.
Even taking into consideration the fact that the US military may be silent in regards to alien sighting because some are actual sightings of secret aircraft they still don't want to disclose, and alien abductions, actual abductions of people (after being drugged) for biological experimentation, there are some other facts that leave you uneasy with such a 'simple and logical' explanation for the aleged UFO-related events. What is the meaning of the gigantic landscape drawings in the Nazca plane in Peru? What seem to be landing stripes, and huge drawings of birds and other figures drawn in perfect simmetry are simply impressive. Too impressive. Some Roswell glyphs have been deciphered as Greek(!), meaning 'Freedom'. Why an Earth tongue, why such a word, and why so visible? An ancient tribe holds true sayings where the constelation of Sirius, the smallest and heaviest of stars holds together the universe as we know it. Such a star does exist, and is the smallest and heaviest star known, but is invisible to the naket eye, and was only discovered and photographed in the 1970's! How did that knowledge that was handed down from high-priest to high-priest, since the Egyptian civilization, was acquired? And if they're here (and they have been more active since the first atomic explosion in 1945), what is their intention? Paranormal PhenomenaIf you're looking for ghosts, go buy yourself a copy of 'Ghostbusters', and you'll be better off than on the Internet. You'll find many ghost-related sites full with pictures and tales, but not one serious document on why or exactly how ghosts exist.
Quite often, when a guardian angel saves someone from some nasty fate, someone else becomes the victim. What happened to the victim's guardian angel? Was he on leave? Had he gone to the resting room? Was he out for lunch? Or is it that only some people have guardian angels? And if so, who and why? The Link (?)Is there a link between these subjects? Let's add a third, not approached by the X-Files, but in the realm of the fantastic as well: the end of the world prophecies. What if guardian angels are making sure that the world's fate proceeds as planned? That would explain why only some people have guardian angels. Those are the people needed to, in the whole, tilt the scale in a certain direction. Which is this direction? Are guardian angels aliens in diguise? If so, and remembering the motto 'Freedom' from the Roswell wreckage, are they here to conquer, or to save us? In the end, The X-Files openned more doors and posed more questions than it answered. And of course, it made you wonder whether govenments are to be trusted. In the end, after The X-Files, you trust no one. |
